Tool Choices

Best tools for a content repurposing service, with cost per client

The best tools for a content repurposing service: transcription, clip discovery, editing and scheduling, with dated prices and an illustrative cost per client.

The flow

  1. Transcribe and find key moments
  2. Generate clip candidates
  3. Edit, caption and export
  4. Add covers only when needed
  5. Schedule for the client

These are the best tools for a content repurposing service, where a client sends one long recording and you return a batch of short clips, captions and posts. This guide follows the Content Repurposing Service blueprint: the essential tools, the optional ones, and an illustrative cost per client.

Prices checked 9 Oct 2026, in US dollars.

Some links to tools are affiliate links: if you sign up or buy through one, Slizzy OS may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. OpusClip and Metricool have affiliate links on their tool pages; Descript, CapCut, Canva, Riverside, Captions and Pictory don't. That doesn't change the advice here. Read the affiliate disclosure for details.

The workflow

  1. Transcribe the long recording and find the key moments.
  2. Generate clip candidates for review.
  3. Trim, caption and export each clip vertically, keeping the speaker's words.
  4. Make a cover image only if the platform needs one.
  5. Schedule the clips across TikTok, Reels and YouTube Shorts.

An illustrative cost per client

This is illustrative and simulated, not a real business. Say you run 3 clients, each sending about 2 hours of recordings a month.

  • Descript Hobbyist, billed annually: US$16. Its 10 media hours cover the roughly 6 hours of uploads.
  • OpusClip Pro, billed annually: US$14.50. Check how many credits your footage uses on the pricing page before you rely on 300 a month.
  • CapCut: free.
  • Metricool Starter, billed annually: US$20, covering up to 5 brands, one per client.

That's about US$50.50 a month in tools, or roughly US$17 per client, before your time. Paying monthly instead, it's US$24 + US$29 + US$25 = US$78. Whether the service pays depends on what clients pay you and how long each batch takes, which the blueprint helps you test.

What to buy first

  • Start with Descript Free, OpusClip Free and CapCut Free on your own or a friend's footage. Neither OpusClip's watermark nor its 3-day export window works for client delivery, so upgrade when you land the first client.
  • Add Metricool when you're posting for clients, not before. Its free plan covers 1 brand without LinkedIn or X.
  • Skip Canva unless a platform needs a cover. The blueprint says not to add a headline the clip doesn't support.

Where tools can't help

  • Rights: only clip footage the client owns or has permission to use.
  • Accuracy: review every clip and caption. AI tools can cut mid-thought or mishear names.
  • Demand: scheduling and clipping save time, but the client's content still has to be worth watching.
