Metricool review for managing client social accounts

A Metricool review for managing client social accounts: brand-based pricing, the free plan's LinkedIn and X gap, the X add-on, and what needs Advanced.

The flow

  1. Count brands and networks per client
  2. Check which networks need add-ons
  3. Test the free plan on one brand
  4. Price the tool into your retainer
  5. Move to Advanced only for approvals or API

This Metricool review looks at managing client social accounts: how its brand-based pricing works for a small agency, what the free plan leaves out, and which features need the Advanced plan. Metricool schedules posts to several networks from one calendar and reports on how they perform. Each brand is one business or client.

Prices checked 9 Oct 2026 on Metricool's pricing page, in US dollars. The page also shows euro prices, so check which currency you'll be billed in.

Some links to tools are affiliate links: if you sign up or buy through one, Slizzy OS may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Metricool and Make have affiliate links on their tool pages; Zapier, Taplio and Canva don't. That doesn't change the advice here. Read the affiliate disclosure for details.

Add-ons: X on Starter needs a US$10 a month add-on per connected account. Some analytics features need a separate Advanced Analytics add-on. Upgrades are pro-rated.

The gaps to know about

  • The free plan excludes LinkedIn and X, which rules it out for many B2B clients.
  • On Starter, every X account costs an extra US$10 a month.
  • Client approvals, team roles and API access to Zapier or Make are Advanced only.

An illustrative small agency

This is illustrative and simulated. You manage 4 clients, 2 of which want X.

  • Starter, billed annually: US$20 for up to 5 brands, plus 2 X add-ons at US$10 = US$40 a month.
  • If clients need to approve posts before they go out, that's an Advanced feature: US$53 a month billed annually, before any add-ons.

At that size, Metricool costs roughly US$10 to US$13 per client per month. Price that into your retainer rather than absorbing it.

What it does well

  • One calendar for several clients, with reports you can export to PDF or PPT and send monthly.
  • A free-forever plan for testing your workflow on one brand.
  • Brand-based pricing that suits a short client list.

Who should look elsewhere

  • If you only post to one network, that network's own scheduler may be enough.
  • If your clients are mostly on LinkedIn, compare a LinkedIn-focused tool like Taplio. We haven't checked its prices for this review.
  • If you need approvals but only manage 2 or 3 clients, Advanced may cost more than the work justifies. A shared draft document and a manual sign-off can work at that size.

Verdict

Pick Metricool if you manage a handful of clients across several networks, including LinkedIn, and want one calendar and monthly reports. Budget for the X add-on, and move to Advanced only when approvals or API access are actually needed.

Scheduling saves time, but it doesn't create demand: posts still need to be worth reading. Metricool is the essential tool in the Drop-Servicing Social Media blueprint, and designs usually come from a tool like Canva.
