Tool Choices
Best tools for a faceless YouTube channel, with real costs
The research, script, voice, visuals and editing tools behind a faceless channel, with dated prices, a free-first budget and the rules that decide whether it can earn.
The flow
- Research topics
- Write the script
- Record or generate the voice
- Build visuals and edit
- Publish and review the numbers
A faceless channel is a production line: research a topic, write a script, add a voice, build the visuals, edit, publish, then learn from the numbers. Each step has a tool, and most have a free tier. The expensive mistake is paying for all of them before a single video has shown it can hold attention.
This is the stack from the Faceless YouTube Channel blueprint, with what each tool costs. Prices checked 9 Oct 2026, in US dollars.
Some links to tools are affiliate links: if you sign up or buy through one, Slizzy OS may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. vidIQ and ElevenLabs have affiliate links on their tool pages; Claude, HeyGen and CapCut don't. That doesn't change the advice here. Read the affiliate disclosure for details.

Each step in more detail
Research: vidIQ
vidIQ suggests topics and keywords for a niche and has AI tools for titles, descriptions and scripts. The free 150 credits are enough to research a niche, and credits don't roll over. Boost includes 2,000 credits (about US$199 a year if billed yearly). Max is US$49 a month, or US$39 billed yearly (about US$468 a year), with 6,000 credits. Use it to decide what to test, and judge results by YouTube Studio's numbers for your own videos.
Script: Claude
Use Claude to organise research notes and draft scripts, then fact-check and rewrite them in your own words. Pro gives more usage than Free. The annual option is US$200 billed up front.
Voice: your own, or ElevenLabs
Recording yourself is free. ElevenLabs' free plan has 10,000 credits a month, but the commercial licence starts on Starter (30,000 credits, roughly 30,000 characters of script). Creator is US$22 a month. See ElevenLabs pricing explained for how credits map to scripts.
Visuals: HeyGen
HeyGen is for formats with a presenter or avatar. Creator allows videos up to 30 minutes, 1080p export and watermark removal. If your format is narration over footage, charts or screen recordings, you may not need an avatar tool at all.
Editing: CapCut
The free version covers cutting, transitions, text and basic audio. Pro adds the advanced AI tools, including auto captions. The Pro prices above come from CapCut's own comparison page, which says prices vary by region and platform.
Budget by stage
| Stage | Setup | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Testing, months 1 to 3 | vidIQ, Claude and CapCut on free plans, your own voice, HeyGen only if needed | US$0 |
| Monetising a narrated channel | Claude Pro plus ElevenLabs Starter, everything else free | about US$26, billed monthly |
| Optional editing upgrade | Add CapCut Pro | add US$19.99 |
| Presenter format | Add HeyGen Creator | add US$29 |
Optional tools from the blueprint
The blueprint also lists Copy.ai for drafts, Pictory and Synthesia for video, and Captions for captioning. We haven't checked their prices for this guide, so open each tool page and confirm on the provider's site.
The rules decide more than the tools
- To earn from ads, the YouTube Partner Program needs 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months, or 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. A review follows.
- YouTube's monetisation policies exclude repetitive, mass-produced or reused content.
- Creators must disclose realistic altered or synthetic content.
A cheap stack that produces generic videos fails on both of those last two counts. Original research and a real point of view are what the tools should support.
Start smaller than you think
Publish a short batch with free tools, and set a point to stop or continue before you start. Only pay for the step that's actually slowing you down. The blueprint's starter plan and step costs show what one video takes.
